Handmade graceful baskets crafted neatly to such a degree that celebrates the rich history of basketry in Ethiopia and Africa, Historically, baskets have been used in Africa for many functions some of them are agricultural practices such as winnowing and sifting and the collecting and carrying of crops as well as portage of produce to markets, Household usage included storage and serving of food and beverages and filtering beer during its production process, Spices and herbs were also stored in basket containers.
Our baskets are made by masterweavers using three basic materials Bamboo, natural fiber ropes, and hand-processed leather. Crafting is done using the technique of twining by interweaving these materials tightly with a smooth transition of patterns. The base of the basket is weaved from a marvelous all-natural hand-processed furry leather to give it an extra boost in strength and functionality.
These baskets were made to introduce the ultimate functionality of baskets by harboring durability and ease of day to day usage while also possessing a splendid decorous appearance that shouts luxury.
This product is Handmade in Ethiopia by economically marginalized women guided by international fair trade principles using nothing but eco-friendly biodegradable raw materials.
